How It Works

Cosm combines principles from cognitive psychology with the minimalist music style introduced by renowned composers like Steve Reich and Brian Eno. By a simple tap or swipe, users can create melodies that seamlessly blend into an ever-evolving, immersive soundtrack that captivates the mind.

The app draws inspiration from organic sound sources such as gongs and nature's symphony. The meticulously crafted sonic palette ensures an atmospheric and calming experience. Each layer of sound evolves over time, resulting in a non-linear musical composition that is both relaxing and captivating.

Once users have crafted their soundscape, they can save it to their journal along with accompanying notes for future reflection and listening.

Background

Cosm is the result of a collaboration between the Fox brothers: Jonah Fox, an accomplished electroacoustic composer; Alex Fox, a technologist/producer; and Dr. Chris Howard from MIT, who provided guidance based on his expertise in computational psychology.
